This was written for the husband of a friend while she was going home to meet him in vacations (May, 2004). I have changed their names because I am publishing it without their permission.
HELLO Mr JOHN
Sheetal is my friend, take her care
Or I will scold you when I am there.
Love her most, she is your wife
She also loves you, you are her life.
She is a good woman, make her laugh
You are her man, the ‘better half’.
She is so beautiful, like a little baby
You are handsome or very handsome may be!
She has been studying, in the library
3-4 hours daily? No. Much more very!
She has been lost in M.phil and books
With you shall improve her beauty and looks.
Talk to her, day and night
Rest of the world for her you fight
Go together travel, the woods and the road
Do not let her carry any of the load.
Go to cinema hall, her and you
Restaurants, the sea or say the zoo.
As you move together hold her hand
And you will feel heaven while walking on sand!
When she is coming back please do not weep
For tears cut the heart, oh! Very very deep!
And if Sheetal cries, hold her tear
In your palm and say, “I love you dear”.
That drop of tear you sprinkle on a hill
And there will grow a valley of daffodil.
And in that valley morning or evening
When you will go you will hear her sing.
And people will know valley of such flower
Could only be result of love’s eternal power!
Yes Mr. John, the secret of a beautiful life
Is the undying love between man and wife!
