“Sabarmati Hospital” in JNU thanks to ‘Tehelka’!

I was a subscriber of the famed Tehelka magazine for a year. The tehelka_mastheadsubscription ended in late October 2007 (though they still send me the mag free of cost!).

They got my address wrong and they have proved to be incorrigible! I sent them many reminders but in vain! Sabarmati is a hostel in JNU but for Tehelka it is hospital (see address label photo)!  :( Here is an email I sent on 5 August 2008. In fact I did not renew the subscription because of my anger over this (which I even conveyed to them on phone)!  tehalka-sabarmati-hospital

Dear Sir,

I have always been a Tehelka admirer and since almost a year I am also a subscriber. You have always delivered the “truth” (as promised) but you have also delivered me something that I do not deserve.  Please note that this attempt for registration of grievance is my ‘second’ attempt. I hope that you will do the needful, better late than never. My first attempt was an email sent to you at ‘subscriber@tehelka.com’ on 5/11/2007 which you ignored/missed/overlooked.

Please note that I do not live in “Sabarmati Hospital.” You have always addressed the magazine(s) to “Vikas Gupta, Room No. 247, Sabarmati Hospital, J.N.U., New Delhi -110067.” My place is Sabarmati Hostel. It has always been a hostel and will remain so, come what may. JNU does not have a hospital; It has a health centre which is a far cry from a hospital.

I am a very health-conscious man and I do everything from eating low-calories food to running and strength-training so that I do not have to visit a hospital. So, “hospital” is quite incongruous with my existence. Please find attached herewith a snapshot of my address sticker that you have used for about ten months. Please correct the error asap.

Thank you. tehelka

Vikas Gupta,
Sabarmati HOSTEL,

But at least magazine gets delivered to you, right? Why fret over it? “one phone call, a few emails, and one blog post” is too much!!

    @may7black

Yes! It is height of stupidity indeed!

It is of course only a printing mistake! I am quite relaxed. Just one phone call, a few emails, and one blog post! Tehelka does not have time to correct its own mistakes or at least acknowledge it!

I AM from JNU. What’s the funny side to it?!

  6. Vikas Gupta says:

    Yes Ashish,

    I kinda agree with you.

My primary anger is with the little respect they give to the emails/letters!

I was planning to suggest them some sting ops (on newly selected corrupt civil servants who endorse a number of coachings/mags) but decided against it thinking they may not even read my email!

    Hey Radinka,

I was away from computer for a week, hence the delay. LOL, indeed! And welcome to my primary blog! :)
