Last some days

Topics: My Life

My last few days have not been very bright!

Yesterday, I went to Chandani Chowk (with Rajan who had to buy Lehenga for his fiancee). I took my contact lenses from my pet shop (which I had given for cleaning).

I successfully resisted the attempt to buy another frame (I always buy glasses from Ballimaran which has wholesale rates; A frame that costs 1500 to 2000 Rupees in South Delhi costs about 300 Rupees here while plastic glasses of high power like mine cost about 200 Rupees without the anti-glare feature! My pet shop is Sun Shine Optical (Mr. Shaakir), 2395 , Chasma Building, Ballimaran, New Delhi-06;  Ph: 9811587833, 011-23933458; I always recommend my friends to visit Ballimaran/this shop for glasses; Nearest metro station is Chhawri Bazaar. I also suggest my friends to shop from Vishal Megamart, Big Bazaar, Kendriya Bhandar etc. to save money and for a more enjoyable shopping experience).

my-shoppingI also resisted the temptation to buy/eat cakes from a good bakery shop near the aforesaid shop! I bought a weighing scale from Chhawri Bazaar in 350 Rupees, the wholesale market for hardware. I have discovered that I am 65 kgs without my heavy woodland sandal and the coat! That’s some relief. I also bought some stationery (a bundle of envelopes, markers, pens, refills) from Nai Sarak, the wholesale market for books and stationery). I did not take lunch yesterday; I bought some oranges and a litre of mango juice while returning from the Safal shop in campus. my-weight

I clicked some pictures of Dariyaganj and adjoining areas from the car (Rajan had hired a full day taxi). Rajan boarded his Rajdhani for Patna at about 5 PM; I came back to hostel denying the idea of visiting Nehru Place or Sarojini Nagar.

I am regularly reading three pages of the dictionary and speaking for some ten minutes daily (as a buoyancy aid to my gift of the gab).

Unfortunately, I slept late and woke up at 7.30 AM only to discover that I am shivering because the quilt and blankets were out of sync! I slept again and woke up at 10.30 AM! This is just not acceptable to me. I will go to bed by 11 PM today, come what may. I have installed a bed switch yesterday so that I fall asleep while studying.

I am going for lunch now after which I will make my to-do list for today. I have to run for some 4 kms today and then do some strength training too.

Vikas.

P.S.: The chairperson of my centre recently scolded me for an English error. I wrote PH.D. (instead of Ph.D.) on the registration folios! This is one reason I would always want to be scolded for. I have to improve my English especially when  I aspire to be a writer/thinker/somebody. Please bring English errors on this blog to my notice.

This is Priyanka’s Comment made on the wrong post. I am pasting it here again:

I am so surprised that you made this mistake of writing Ph.D. as PH.D ! As far as I know you, you are so good at English that you can even point out the most unnoticeable mistakes in others language. This mistake is actually a punctuational mistake. Its good that you are not, unlike most of the convent passed out student, showing off your English (hope so!) but actually trying to make it more graceful. All the best to you! Wish you develop same respect and feelings for Hindi as well.

    REPLY TO PRIYANKA:

    Hello Priyanka,

I am not exceptional with English as you have suggested! I am learning and there is so much I have to learn. I know I make errors while writing.

I am not convent educated and I hate show-offs! I have been educated in Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Public Schools (DAV)!

I love Hindi and respect it too!

You had me confused for a minute there…contacts at a pet shop?! :)

I would SO love to visit Chandni Chowk some day. And I am extremely curious to know what kind of books are sold in that “Dehati Pustak Bhandar” in the picture! I have read very few books in Hindi, would be awesome to read some Hindi literature!

Do visit Chandani Chowk some time!

I don’t know what kind of books are sold in Dehati Pustak Bhandar but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you visit the place.

If you love Hindi books, you may like books of Geetapress Gorakhpur (slightly religious and morally oriented but enjoyable and highly recommended for kids).
