I have just returned to my room after taking food and sunbathing in that order. With a blog, an always on computer and an above average typing speed, I guess I am developing this tendency of documenting any and every aspect of my life.
I really fear chillies!
Most people I have run into either love chillies or are indifferent to them! I am only awed by their bravery!
I have endured years of torment in my childhood at the hands of chillies!
As if that was not enough there were always adult relatives of mine who added insult to injury by lecturing me on the benefits of chillies for Homo sapiens while I salivated in pain!:x
Of late I have tried unsuccessfully eating chillies. These days in the mess, I reluctantly pick one chilli of below average, less menacing build.
I nibble through it (read ‘bite the bullet’) during the meal making sure the minuscule bit of chilli gets overwhelmed by my regular bites of roti-sabzi thereby causing me little/no harm! To be honest, I am wasting one chilli per meal because I consume only 5 per cent of it!
I am very health-conscious and this is something unbecoming of me! I have tried to dispel this fear but probably I have not tried hard enough.
Sometimes it also puts me in awkward situations. Say, when I am ordering bread-omelette at the local dhaba, I have to register my ‘feeble presence’ by issuing this reminder to the person taking the order—
“Bhaiya, mere wale me mirchi mat daalna!” (Bro! don’t add chillies in my serving!)
The moment I issue the caveat, lo and behold, robust males and amazonian females around will look at me (and oh boy!their eyes and face really speaks volumes then)!:roll:
Methinks when I am married, my woman may be a chilli-lover! But that doesn’t send a chill down my spine because I’ll of course change when with her! Say, if she asks me to eat 10 chillies to prove my love to her I’ll do it without a second thought!
You may ask what will happen if she asks me to eat 100 chillies or 1000 chillies or 10000 chillies?!
Hmm, it is love and not the number of chillies that count, dimwit!:lol:
Edit 10 Feb 12.15 AM: Chirag has rightly commented that “when its love she won’t ask you to eat chillies!” But then life will be boring when she does not ask me to do things I am averse to doing!

I too really fear chillies!
, When its love she won’t ask you to eat chillies
@Chirag,
Yeah! so true! I guess I have been selfish writing that line!
Lol, I am one of those who are chilly-eater (hari-waali) along with food.
Oxy,
Yeah! You are in the majority! Thank heavens I only get to read your blog and not eat with you!;)
Haril-wali! sounds so threatening!
Someday, I’ll eat chillies too!
Someday… Inshallah!!!
@Oxy
Amen!
oh i love spicy food plus kadi with red chillies ….its yum
and i support what chirag said
@Arpit,
As I said almost everyone I have met loves chillies! I am the odd man out! Enjoy your kadi!
I am also chilli eater. My sister suffers from IBS (iritation bowel syndrome), she can’t eat chillies. Yet when she cooks for me, puts lots of chillies. Having no idea or experience of eating chillies herself, she always overdoes even from a chilli-eater like me’s point of view.
After eating her food, its all c—see—c—see-all the way…So I am getting better at eating chillies
I do c-see-c merely by looking at chillies!
Sunbathing in Delhi? :O
@Karan,
I sit in the sun outside my hostel after lunch! That is what I meant. I agree for most of us sunbathing brings up the usual image (beach and the like); I was even having second thoughts while using the word. Thanks.
Chillies!!! The mere thought of it leaves me c-c-oing, be it hari-wali or red-wali or even kali-wali!!
I dread food which is Hot (garam) & Hot (mirchi wala)!!
LoL..

LOLzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I love green chillis… especially the smell with ginger and garlic…
I sometimes put chillis in black tea with a dash of lemon….
We are so like-minded! Glad to have discovered you!
Ok, chilli lover! Even I am eating chillies now though only very small quantities!
Hmm … Cool!!..:)
