OMG! My blogging tips published on One Cool Site! And about a good woman…!

Topics: Blogging, Life

I may be a new kid on the blo(ck)g but I have developed a lot of understanding of blogs and the blogging world in a very short time. I do not have much technical knowledge but I have gained a lot of insight by reading blogs, reading about blogs and observing the blogosphere.

I visit a number of blogs and have made many friends in the cyberspace (all of whom will be mentioned in my posts sooner or later). I often leave my comments on various posts and sometimes my comments are longer than the post when I am moved by the post (because I am an emotional man).

For all my blogging help needs, I visit One Cool Site (which is among the top results on Google or Yahoo when ‘WordPress blogging tips’ is searched).

One Cool Site is run by a middle aged, down to earth woman pen named ‘timethief’, living a simple rural lifestyle on the coast of British Columbia  . She calls herself timethief because she ‘twice technically died and came back to life again; she stole her life back from the grim reaper of death.’

timethiefTimethief  suffers from Fibromyalgia and seriously injured herself in August 2008 (the complete healing will take a year more) and yet her blog, WordPress forums and Blog Catalog are replete with instances where timethief is helping bloggers find their feet!

She has a heart of gold, needless to say. Timethief’s second blog on ‘personal development, growth and relationships’ is a goldmine focussed on mind, body, relationships, health, positive thinking and well being.

Yesterday timethief offered to publish my recent elaborate comments on One Cool Site as a guest post and made my day. Click here to read my piece on blogging tips. You may also read my comments on the post ‘how to form blog centred relationships.’

I am enjoying blogging! It has opened a wonderful dimension to the life of this introvert Indian! Apart from this primary blog, I also have two password protected, secret blogs which hold my emotional outpouring and letters to ‘S’ (unrequited love) that I could never actually write! I am also writing my first book (on Civil Services Exam/non-fiction) as blog posts on a private blog!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! 🙁 If I and ‘S’ were together I would have gifted her a beautiful blog among other things! If you are not single, a brilliant gift idea would be to gift a blog. What say you?!

Sadly, I am not on WP. But I did read ur tips there and as far as writing goes (and not the technicalities), ur tips are useful especially where u say ‘you are not the only great person who is writing and doing all great things; there are others too and their voices need to be strengthened/promoted for the common cause of humanity’ … Good one there..

  11. Vikas Gupta says:

Thanks for the appreciation Oxy. Blogging has a lot of ‘social’ in it and without which it will be meaningless.

By a strange coincidence TT is one of my oldest blogger friends. She was of great help to me when I first started blogging around 2 years ago. She was a regular on the forums and she has left comments on my blog off and on. In fact I can say she was my first blogging friend!
Of late I have not been visiting her to comment but I regularly read her posts. She had another blog which she doesn’t write on now. For her to notice your blogging tips is an honour indeed!.

  25. Vikas Gupta says:

Wow! you are back in action!

I have seen your comments on her blog and the vice versa.

We even had a discussion on you.

She likes you and admires you. She also said someday she would like to visit India!

I am definitely honoured. I can contribute more articles to One Cool Site but I am running short of time and haven’t really committed myself as yet. But will love to help her and write for her. She is always helping others! These days she is very active on BlogCatalog and has a medal next to her profile image on BC provided by the admin.

  26. timethief says:

Gosh … what can I say with this red face on. You are all so kind and I’m so touched by your words of support during this trying time in my life.

I advise every blogger I know to post regularly and here I am not knowing from one day to the next if I will be able to follow my own advice.

I’d like to say a special thank you to Vikas who did such a wonderful job on his guest post. Meghna has also done an excellent guest post on my blog too and you will find it here

I read Nita’s blog regularly and have developed an appreciation of India through doing so, as well as, deep respect and admiration for her research and writing skills, and her talent for drawing the very best from her readers in discussion on her posts. I’m now fascinated with India and should I ever get a chance to travel that would be my destination. Guess who would be the very first person I would contact?

I have read this post previously Vikas I just lacked the courage to comment because I see so poorly right now and was afraid that I would make spelling errors and typos that I would not detect prior to pushing the button and sending them into cyberspace. So what I did was write this comment in a text editor, increase the font size and make sure I edited it before I posted it.

You are all tucked away in a special corner of my heart. When the migraines subside and the optic nerve is healed I will be able to read more blogs again and even focus long enough to leave a coherent comment.

Love and peace be unto you all,

  27. Nita says:

Get well soon TT. We love you!

  28. Chaitanya says:

    Nice blog, Vikas!!!
