Please write urgently if you will adopt this cute puppy (New Delhi, 29 January 2010)

Update 30 January: We have made an arrangement for the puppy near the hostel entrance (we hope it will grow soon and live normally on the streets). We think we should not disturb his natural life. Also, see Indian Home Maker’s comment here. Update 11 Feb: The puppy lives outside the hostel and is happy.

Update: in late Feb, other dogs in the area killed him early morning. We buried him near the hostel.

Some students of my hostel found this cute puppy (see pics below) on their trip to the JNU Caves and were moved by its plight. They brought it in the hostel and presently the puppy is living in the hostel rooms with students (Shashi, Jyoti, Rashwet, Vijay and others) and is very happy. The puppy is very beautiful and intelligent and it must be about 10 days old. Due to lack of time, the students are looking for a family or somebody who will want to adopt the puppy albeit with a heavy heart.

Please write back urgently (a comment here) to adopt it. The puppy is presently at the Sabarmati hostel of JNU Campus, New Delhi. We are looking for a family/person who loves pets and will take adequate care of the puppy named Fighter aka Rancho! This post will be updated when the puppy finds its new family. Please spread the word.

Here are some photos of Fighter 🙂

  1. I wonder if you could let him roam in the campus and let him live there? If somebody does adopt him, I hope it would be someone who has some experience with puppies. Sometimes people take a puppy to live in a flat – with little space to exercise and puppies are very energetic when they are young… they may take time be house broken too… if someone has a garden then that would be really great for the puppy and the person 🙂
I feel it’s better for a pup to stay free on the road than to be first adopted and then abandoned. So whoever adopts should understand that a pet is a serious responsibility. I say this because I have seen many cases like this –

You are right. In fact some minutes ago they were discussing of leaving the puppy outside the hostel (while also giving the food daily). I think that is what is going to happen. Thanks for the link.
