चिड़िया चहचहाती है
चिड़िया गाती जाती है
दाना चुगती जाती है
मुफ्त संगीत सुनाती है |
कभी नहीं ये आलस करती
फुर्र-फुर्र देखो उड़ ये जाती
सुबह-सवेरे काम पे जाती,
शाम ढले वो घर को आती |
चिड़िया मेहनत सिखाती है
घोंसला-घरोंदा बनाती है
दूर-दूर से दाना चुगती
बच्चों को खिलाती है |
चिड़िया हमें हँसाती है
धमा-चौकड़ी मचाती है
कभी दीवार, तो कभी डाल पे
फुदक-फुदक इठलाती है |
काली-सफ़ेद, रंग-बिरंगी
चिड़िया कितनी निराली है
चूं, चूं, चूं, चूं, करती फिरती
चिड़िया भोली-भाली है |
सुबह-सवेरे चिड़िया गाती—
नींद से मुझे उठाती है
कोयल हो या कबूतर हो
चिड़िया मुझको भाती है |
बच्चें चिड़िया को देखते,
खूब खुश हो जाते
काश कि वो भी पंछी होते—
तो चिड़िया की तरह उड़ जाते |
चिड़िया की आवाज़ है मीठी
कान में मिसरी घोल है देती
सब को चिड़िया खुश कर देती
चूं, चूं, चूं, चूं बोल जो देती |
चिड़िया व्यस्त रहती है
मानो कहती रहती है—
जग में आये, कुछ नाम करो
आलस त्यागो, काम करो |
